Posting my case, in case someone in similar situation is interested.
Self : PD July 2002 -EB3
Spouse : PD Feb 2006 - EB3.
Suggested by our lawyers.
File my I-485 with spouse as dependent,
File my spouse's I-485 with me as dependent mentioning receipt notice of first I-485.
File for only one set of EAD and AP docs. Doesn't matter with which.
Filing both in July '07.

my i140 is based on EB3 and now I have around 8 years of expereience I can apply inn EB2. Can I still retain my priority date?

I agree with you on this, there is some truth to this that there could be delays when there are multiple filings. In fact this is the first time when USCIS has to deal with so many multiple filings, a very few lawyers have any direct experience with it. From USCIS Standard Operating Procedure, there is a mention of "second filing" (not duplicate filing) in the following places:
1. Procedural Overview (Page 4)
2. File Review (Page 46)
3. Interview Waiver Criteria (Page 185)

In (1) and (2) above it says second filing should be handled under the normal process. Although if different A# are assigned case goes to CRU (case resolution unit). But if A# assigned are same, you are more or less processed like a normal case. The last part (3) interview waiver criteria, multiple filing is mentioned as one of the deviations from interview waiver criteria but it NOT the interview criteria itself. In the end processing time for multiple filing is very much up to the discretion of adjudicating officer. Also, I didn't find any reason to believe that there could be issues with security check with multiple filings.
I think all of us multiple filers can breathe easy if our cases are filed clearly with full disclosure of information without any intended willful violation.
I am a multiple filer too, my I-485 application filed in early June was approved last week. I hope this gives some reason for optimism for us multiple filers. Good luck to everyone. BTW: I am still a contributing member and will continue to hang out at IV.

On September 9, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
Came to US in 1999

Waiting for EB3 dates for India
Mean time wife applied for EB2 NIW Self petition in March 2006 and got approved
Again she applied for new labor in Nov 2009 and applied for I-140 in May 2010 in EB2
Her new EB2 I-140 got approved in Aug 4th 2010 and USCIS ported the March 2006 priority date automatically
Yesterday she opened SR and today got the approval magic letter

Per discussions with immi attorneys, AC21 portability is not explicit on what needs to be done if I140 is substituted by previous employer and NOT REVOKED, and the applicant is eligible for changing jobs (same desc and 180 days pending). The fact is that this loophole leads to illogical scenario--2 applicants taking benefit from same I140.
Question to you and other forum members: Is there a thread on this specific topic?

i wanted to share that i have recd by email confirmation regarding the GC production from USCIS (Aug 18).
I was, in fact, waiting for my fingerprinting notice - since my last one was couple of years old. My lawyer had written to USCIS to review the case and requested to send us a FP notice.
But what i got was GC production email for both me and my wife. My journey on H1b that started on Nov 99 has finally ended!!!:)

We should support this actually and do something nice and thoutfull for the injured men and patients. We should support that and enforce more media attention to this.
